Flow Yoga

Creative & anatomical vinyasa classes can be delivered in the format of moderately paced classes or slow flow. My style is grounded in conscious transitions, creating a true movement meditation experience. I guide the participants to learn to move in full phrases and encourage them to keep an explorative and playful mindset. I intentionally sequence classes to link effortless movement with breath awareness and anatomical enquiry.

Yin

Yin classes cherish stillness. Beginning with guided meditation and exploring poses for for two to three minutes each. Working with sensation is key part of yin: trying to find sensations that feel helpful and manageable, that can be held for a longer period of time. I sequence yin classes anatomically and teach with a somatic, meditative focus. As the sensations change with time, students cultivate to ability to respond with compassion.

Slow Flow

This slow-paced class skillfully combines the restorative benefits of yin yoga poses with slow movement and mobility. Alternating between moments of mindful movement, gentle activation and complete stillness, these sessions allow for slowing down and paying attention, nourishing the body and mind. Emphasizing meditative focus and conscious breathing, this practice leaves students with a sense of grounding and embodied awareness.

For YTT

Yoga Anatomy

Yoga anatomy sessions can be asana specific or cover the general anatomy of movement with an anti-fragile lens. Asana specific sessions include anatomical analysis of yoga poses. Rather than prescribing specific alignment, we will discuss alignment as a dynamic concept, its relationship to individual variation and the desired sequencing effect. General sessions cover musculoskeletal system and kinesiology as outlined by the YA standards.

Anatomical Sequencing

Anatomical sequencing covers a variety of themes related to creating classes and class curriculums with a specific physical focus. Putting anatomical knowledge to practice to understand which poses to choose, how to adapt and modify them, and in what order to sequence them to achieve a desired effect. We will brainstorm ideas for sequencing themes, including those based around a particular joint, a particular range of motion or a specific plane of motion.

Creative Sequencing

For aspiring vinyasa teachers, this session covers the essential movement skills necessary to thrive in the creative pursuit of sequencing flow yoga. Creative yoga can look in many different ways, from venturing outside the boundaries of typical asana to skillful design of transitions linking more traditional poses. We will cover the theory of creativity and various techniques to enhance it, followed by a practical exploration session using various prompts.
